Not much in the way of mechanical changes were made this year, mostly internal designing such as a new dashboard and other fascias. There was also the addition of numerous options including central locking and electric front windows.

The rear door was redesigned to be made from zinc plated steel, the brake calipers on the 110/130 were improved and the panhard rod strengthened - the front axle is therefore incompatible with earlier panhard rods and vice versa.

The Td5 engine changed from the 10P to the 15P engine and gained an upgraded ECU. It has supposedly meant a more reliable engine and better economy.
